Wash in a washing machine, in 30 degrees Celsius, on a low spin cycle. Tencel and linen can shrink in the first wash, so it should be done in cold water, preferably by hand.
The fabric, like all natural materials, can shrink about 5% even when taken caution.
Tencel is a trademarked fabric more commonly known as lyocell. It’s made from wood cellulose in a process seemingly similar to viscose production. Although instead of corrosive substances, Tencel is made with NMMO dissolvent – non-toxic, environmentally safe and can be reused almost entirely.
Tencel production uses relatively little water (around 260 l/kg) compared to other materials.
It can be composted and fully breaks down in about six weeks.
